Hidden London takes a look at a variety
of the capital’s minor districts and localities, some in the outer boroughs and some tucked away in lesser-known corners
of the city centre – focusing mainly on the ways in which they’ve developed and highlighting any special points
of interest. The site also features specially recommended places, a selection of London books and links to other useful websites.
If you know London well, you’ll already be familiar with many of the places featured here – but there should still
be some you’ve never even heard of.
Most of the content of this site comprises extracts from the London Gazetteer, which includes all the capital’s
quarters, whether hidden or renowned, and is published by Chambers.

With fewer than 300 localities listed, Hidden London
can only hint at what’s out there away from the tracks made by visitors to the capital – and by most of its residents.

The
latest additions to Hidden London include the wide and recently weepy Warwick Avenue; the lovely but comparitively little-known Bushy Park; Fish Island, which sounds more interesting than it is; All Saints, in Poplar, and Finsbury a well-known place with an uncertain location.
